Cowboys Versus Indians is a romantic comedy feature from the award-winning filmmaking team of director/writer Ambarish Manepalli, writer Christopher T. VanDijk, and producer Geoffrey Quan.
The project will mark the team’s second project together and their first feature film. Their first collaboration, the short romantic comedy A Wink of the Eye, starred Michael Gladis (Mad Men) and premiered at the prestigious 2010 Palm Springs International Shortfest, where it was awarded a special citation for student filmmaking. The film is currently in the midst of its festival run and has screened at Vancouver, Sedona, and Ashland.
Ambarish and Geoff previously collaborated together on The Other Way Round, which was supported by HBO Films and the Film Arts Foundation. The film received Faculty Honors from Columbia University, and screened at over 10 festivals, including LA Shorts, Sacramento, New York Latino, and DC Asian Pacific American where it was the opening night short. Ambarish and Chris have worked together since 2005, first as director and actor and now as writing partners. Chris had a lead role in Ambarish’s first short, Ismael, which took Faculty Honors at Columbia and went on to screen at the Asian American International Film Festival in New York.
Cowboys Versus Indians will run approximately 90 minutes in length and will be shot entirely on location in St. Louis, Missouri. Production is scheduled for early Spring 2012, and the film will premiere in 2013.
